Fourth Slideshow

We had a busy, busy, busy Fourth of July weekend! On Friday night, Samuel spent the night at my mom's. It was his first time ever staying somewhere without another brother. My mom said he had a hard time falling asleep at night, since he missed us. In the middle of the night, my stepfather found Sam sleeping in the hallway, outside their bedroom door.

On Saturday afternoon, we went to my mom's for a BBQ and swimming. We found Sam there, totally happy and excited. He even went in the pool with my mom! Last year, he wouldn't touch the water with his toe, he was so scared. But this year, he didn't want to get out! Goofy kid!

In the evening, we went up to my mom's town's firework show. It was a great display. The kids had a blast hanging out with their cousins, eating junk food, and watching the show. We were all worn out!

Sunday, we went to church, did yard work, and ran a bunch of errands.

On Monday, the boys and I packed up care packages for 2 soldiers in Iraq, then ran a bunch more errands.

Yesterday, on the fourth itself, we met my dad and step-mom for lunch at their marina. Then we spent the afternoon in the pool with them. The boys had a blast being thrown around by their grandpa and pulled around by their Bubbie. Grandparents are cool like that. They can do all the fun stuff, then hand the kids back, all ready for naps.

We all came home and rested for a while, then Lewis took the boys to pick up their new pet snake. Yes, we now are proud owners of a ball python. She doesn't have a name yet, but she seems to be settling in nicely here. The boys are totally fascinated with her. Jacob and Nicky both ate their breakfasts right next to her tank this morning, so they wouldn't miss it if she decided to wake up and move around. I kinda of feel sorry for the snake! She's going to get absolutely no privacy around here. Oy.

Unfortunately, the fourth ended with a big thunderstorm, so we weren't able to set off any fireworks here. We have a small bag of ground based ones that Lewis has been saving for the Fourth. I can't say I'm sad that there were no exploding devices around my children last night. ;)

Here's a slide show of some of our weekend fun. Enjoy!
